An access code is a type of coupon code that grants customers access to inactive or hidden price levels on an event listing. You can share your access codes with limited audiences to offer special pricing or private ticket types.

First, you'll need to set up your price levels and create a new code.

Set up hidden price levels

1. Create a new event.

Follow the usual steps to create a new event until you reach the setup process for creating new price levels.

2. Create hidden price levels.

Proceed with adding the standard price levels for your event that won't be locked behind the access code. Then, add your price levels that will be included with the access code. For each of these price levels, you'll need to unselect 'Active Online'.

3. Complete and launch your event.

Finish the remaining steps for your event and launch it. Now you're ready to set up your access code.

Create a new access code

1. Visit the Coupons tool.

Click the Manage section and click Add Coupon.

2. Create a new access code.

In the Coupon Type dropdown, select Access Code. You'll need to enter a name for the coupon (for your internal reference only), as well as the code itself. Your code must be alphanumeric, 15 characters or fewer. Click Save & Assign when you're ready to proceed to the next step.

Assign the access code to an event

1. Visit the coupon assignment tool.

If you've been following this guide, you'll reach this page directly from the coupon code creation tool, and your access code will automatically be selected.

You can also access this tool via the coupon code manager by selecting Assign Coupons.

2. Select an event.

Click Assign to individual events and pricing levels and then click Add Events to open the event selection tool. Then, locate your event in the menu provided and click Make Selection.

3. Select price levels.

Click Choose individual price levels, and you'll be presented with a list of all price levels on the event. Check the boxes for any price levels you want to make available for customers who enter the access code.

Of course, this setting will only affect price levels that are inactive or hidden — the other price levels are already visible.

4. Enter coupon details.

Now you'll enter a Use Limit for the coupon: this setting will determine the total number of orders that can be processed using the access code. Meanwhile, an optional Ticket Limit determines the maximum number of tickets that can be purchased in a single order.

Also, enabling the Taggable option will allow customers to directly access the inactive/hidden price levels by visiting a URL that includes the access code as a tag. (For example, If the code is VIP649, customers who visit will automatically see the inactive/hidden price levels.)

5. Set a date range and save the assignment.

Finally, you'll need to set the start/end date for the access code to be valid. Keep in mind that the access code's expiration date will not automatically make the price level active — that must be adjusted in the event's price level settings.

Click Save Assignment and then you're all set!
