Use Twitter’s Universal Website Tag to capture users who land on your ShowClix event listings. This integration allows you to track conversions and create remarketing lists in your Twitter Ads account.
Use Twitter’s Universal Website Tag to track actions user’s take after engaging with your ads and, in turn, measure your return on investment. Twitter’s tracking allows you to monitor all types of ad engagement: views, link clicks, retweets, likes, and impressions.
Before you get started:
- You already have a Twitter ads account.
- ShowClix is unable to assist with creating your pixel or helping you view your data.
Adding The Universal Website Tag
To incorporate a Twitter tracking pixel into your event, start by generating a universal website tag. For assistance with Twitter Ads, visit their Help Center.
Once you have your Universal Website Tag ID, you will need to put it on your ShowClix event listings (this includes placement on your receipt pages).
Log in to ShowClix Admin > Marketing > Marketing Accounts
Select Twitter Ads Universal
Enter your Universal Website Tag ID
Select Save
Assigning Event IDs for Event Listings
While the Twitter Pixel ID will support page view events for both Classic Checkout and Event Listings, there are additional events that are supported for Event Listings.
1. Visit https://analytics.twitter.com/
Please note that due to the Twitter/X rebranding, users may need to find additional website routes within Twitter to navigate to their Analytics and Event Manager.
2. Select Events manager from the More drop down list.
3. On the X Ads Events Manager page, click on Add Events
4. Begin setup by selecting the Event Type from the drop down menu that you would like to track. Note that ShowClix supports these event types:
- Add to Cart
- Added Payment Info
- Checkout Initiated
- Page View (aka "Site Visits" or "Landing Page Views")
- Purchase
Please note that the "landing page views" and "site visits" events are auto created by Twitter.
5. Name your event and click Next.
6. On Setup Method, select Define event with code and click Next.
7. On the final step, select Install with Conversion API.
8. You will then see the Event ID for your new event. The Event ID should start with 'tw' followed by your pixel id and ending with additional characters. For example: tw-oexyz-abc1d2
9. Click Save.
10. Copy and paste the new Event ID from Twitter into the correct Event ID field of the Twitter Ads section on the ShowClix Marketing Admin page
11. Make sure you copy and paste the correct event type into the appropriate box. For instance, copy a Purchase event type ID from Twitter and paste it into the ShowClix Twitter Purchase Event ID box.
12. To track "landing page views" and "site visits" events on Twitter, enter your Twitter Pixel ID into the "Twitter Pixel & Universal Web Tag ID" input box located on the ShowClix Marketing Admin page.
Please note that it may take at least one hour for any transaction to begin filtering into Twitter after saving the new Event ID within ShowClix.
Test Your Pixel
To check if your pixel is firing:
- Install the Twitter pixel helper for Google Chrome
- Visit your event page
- Check the pixel helper
If your pixel is set up properly, you'll see it in the Chrome extension helper.
